I bought three of these easels to use for display purposes only. They run smoothly, well designed, beautiful, very light, very compact to store. They make it a little easier to mount picture frames securely, but if you're careful and make adjustments, it's not a problem. If they were all black, they would be less noticeable. You want the painting to be an object you enjoy looking at, not an easel. But they are nice to look at and that can't be a bad thing. While the easel is very manageable, it doesn't feel like it's entirely durable and I suspect they won't hold up to heavy use.
