I just got back from French Polynesia these shoes were great. They are soft and flexible and are also very easy to tie both tightly and loosely as needed. The soles are pretty thin, they're not hiking shoes, but once I put them on after riding about 20 miles I was fine. They protect very well in the water and on the beach, just like a good water shoe should. My husband had another pair of water shoes and they were definitely inferior to these. He kept having to throw away the sand that got into his shoes, and he wasn't very comfortable in his shoes. Now he's buying a pair of these water boots for our next trip too.
