I was in a dilemma with my built-in grill for a while - the on-off switch for the halogen bulbs failed after a year (with no replacement for the existing hole) so I had to unplug / unplug the transformer, whenever I wanted my grill to work. It took me so long to discover this switch. FWIW now it comes with the instructions I followed after cutting the 3 wire outdoor cable to the transformer. I soldered ALL the connections, routed the green ground wire around the switch but still inside the case, then used liquid tape to cover all the solder joints - SUCCESS! As previous reviewers have pointed out, soldering ALL connections is REQUIRED; There isn't much room inside the switch housing for butt connectors. I then used clear silicone around all the wiring, both inside and outside the switch, and ran a small bead around the switch itself. Between the liquid insulating "tape" and the clear silicone, I feel this switch is pretty close to "waterproof" now; not that it's too big a problem here in Southern California. The quality of this switch seems to be pretty good; Let's see how its durability proves.
