Review on MeMoreCool Memory Foam Camping Mattress Pad - Portable 3.5" Foldable Floor Mattress For Travel And Guest Bed by Joe Meyer

Soft but not something you want to carry any distance

I was expecting a bit more portable before receiving this. It comes in a large box totally vacuum sealed. Even comes with a slicer like a bed in a box to carefully open the packaging without damaging the pad. It also comes with two loose straps to hold it in place when rolled up and an oversized draw string bag for storage. The pad itself needs about 12-24 hours to "inflate" after being vacuum sealed. Once the foam is full it provides a decent bit of padding but I wouldn't call it plush, it's still kind of firm. The cover is VERY soft and feels like a microfiber cloud. I tried the pad laying in different positions. I found it most comfortable in the stomach down position. If you are a stomach sleepers it's very comfortable. I also tried laying on my back and that wasn't too bad. The least comfortable of the positions was on my side (I am a side sleeper). I found my hip didn't have much support. I am larger so a smaller individual may find to to be adequate in all positions.I was able to roll it back up myself! It took a little effort but I was able to more fold it than roll it, putting my knees on it each time I rolled a section. Once I had the whole thing rolled up I slid the stop underneath on one end and then thread it through the strap connector. I then turned around (did I mention I was sitting on it to keep it compressed) and repeated the process on the other side.Once I had the straps in place it was very easy to slide the bag over it, with plenty of room around to spare. I don't know if this means that I rolled it tighter than anticipated or that they made the bag larger than needed to make it easy to put away. I then drew the draw string all the way tight and tucked the drawstring ends into the narrow opening.I got the Twin XL size and it is very spacious. It would be a little snug for two average sized adults, but there was plenty of room for myself and my 6 year old (my camping/tent buddy). I got this with the intended use of using while tent camping. The dimensions as such that it should fit in our tent; however, the size and weight make it larger than I would ever try to walk with let alone hike with. It's fine if you're able to unload right next to your camping area or if you want a sleeping pad in your house, or even if you want a pad to sleep in the back of your vehicle (assuming you have the space). The carrying bag doesn't have a strap or anything that would make it easy to carry. Backpack straps or something similar would make it much more portable (although still not compatible if you are backpacking).Overall, if you are parking right at your camp site it's a nice pad. It would also be good to cover a cot that could accommodate the pad's size. If you have to hike to your campsite I'd look for a more portable option.

Pros
  • Can be used as a makeshift couch during the day
Cons
  • May not be as comfortable as advertised for individuals who move around a lot during sleep
