This cheap device initially worked well. It did exactly what it was designed to do, which was to provide Ethernet services to my Fire TV Stick. I doubt the validity of the reviews and complain that it's no faster than a Wi-Fi connection with a flash drive. Barring a bad or degraded Wi-Fi connection, there's no particular reason why connecting your Fire Stick to Ethernet should improve speeds significantly. This is not the fault of this Ethernet device and therefore does not justify a negative review of the device. This device runs at a maximum Ethernet speed of 100Mbps, which is good enough for streaming services and is faster than most people can actually get through the broadband system they connect to. Modern Wi-Fi can be faster than 100 Mbps. So if you're already getting faster or faster connections, don't expect switching to Ethernet to have any impact.>> DEVICE FAILS AFTER VERY LITTLE USE The device stopped working about 4 weeks after us. As an IT consultant (and network specialist) with over 30 years of experience, I see no reason to stop him other than that the device has failed internally and is therefore not working properly. It's worth noting that the device was only on for a few hours on average at this time of the evening, as I turn off my TV system (and Fire Stick, etc.) when I'm not using it. Also, during that time I was out for more than two weeks, during which time it wasn't on. So if it was a fault in the electronics then I suspect it would have failed much sooner than it did (if it had been left 24/7 as is normally the case). It is expected to fail in less than 1 week of normal use (i.e. when left on 24/7). I see many other reviews complaining about devices not working upon arrival. I suspect the manufacturer has a quality issue. This isn't surprising at all considering this device costs $10. Luckily, Revain offered to supply a new one even though the free replacement period had expired a few weeks ago. Let's hope the new one lasts a lot longer than the one that died.
