Review on CTA Digital PAD HGT Heavy Duty Gooseneck by Richard Simmons

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Sturdy gooseneck but slippery clip.

This gooseneck seems very strong and strong, but the yoke is a bit slippery. I've tried it on multiple surfaces and have come to the conclusion that this device only sticks to a very specific thick surface. If you plan to use it on a computer desk or the side of a bed that isn't that thick, it will NOT lock properly, but will slide and slide as you adjust it. This is because the rubber material they use in the clip is grooved to increase grip, but instead it just allows the clip to slide, especially wood. If it had been pure, grooved steel the clip would have been much more secure (but I can understand why they went with rubber as they wanted the clip to hold onto metal surfaces like metal bars). There is something else that contributes to the lack of clamp quality. I'm referring to the way the clamp is tightened, instead of the bottom clamp closing symmetrically upwards like most clamps, it closes at an angle as it gets tighter, limiting compatibility with most surfaces. This forces you to buy a block of wood to make up for the lack of thickness so the bottom and top clamps are symmetrical and have a strong clamp. You also need to make sure you get the right dimensions, otherwise it will move everywhere and become unstable with every adjustment, which can cause the clip to collapse in on itself and damage your tablet. Overall I am dissatisfied with this product. It has potential, if the clamp had a better mechanism and grip it could be the best of them all. Everything else about this gooseneck is rock solid and I can say it can hold any tablet without sagging or wobbling. It's just sad that the brace was his undoing. I was hoping for a gooseneck that could compress effectively without having to struggle to do anything to make it work properly.

  • understandable even for the old ones
