Thought I'd share my preliminary results of using a portable sonar in salt water conditions. The device itself looks like a professional wearable and has a solid appearance. The cable connection that connects the fish finder and the monitor has a quick disconnect, care must be taken not to loosen it during use. However, I did not have this problem even in rough coastal seas. The sonar can be attached to the hull of the boat, attached to a fishing rod, or simply attached to the included float. If you use a float, make sure the wire doesn't sink to the bottom or get caught. In terms of corrosion resistance, the sonar is holding up well so far, as is the wire. Tests in the water were also successful, the device is selected among water structures and has an accurate depth. Schools of fish are very visible and it was nice to see a working unit that wasn't $2500. The LCD display is easy to read and has a backlight that can be turned off to save battery power. I highly recommend this device for people looking for a fish finder that won't break the bank.
