Very thin rug that pills a lot

This rug looks thick in the pictures online but is actually very thin. I bought a thick rug to put underneath which helps but it's still a disappointing purchase. I have another pile rug from Safavieh that has a thick, stiff backing that makes the rug thick and durable. The base of this rug is thin and thin. dandruff too. I keep finding threads on the ground around him.
