Be careful! good for me

These only work when the magnet and the alarm are separated from one another. I was looking for an alarm that would sound if the alarm were disturbed in ANY way--vibrated by broken glass or an attempt to get in by moving the window or door. These ONLY work if one part of the mechanism stays on one part of the window, for instance, and the other one is moved away from it--so the window has to be opened for the alarm to sound. If someone breaks the glass in the window and then steps though it, NOTHING happens. I didn't understand that from the description on AMAZON. Also, there are virtually no instructions on how to get the alarms to actually work. Nothing is written out on paper. A semblance of how to use the devices is imprinted into the plastic housing in font so tiny you need a magnifying glass and are NOT informative whatsoever. Even after viewing the brief video, my husband and I were still unsure--I have a college degree and he has his Master's in Aeronautical engineering and we STILL couldn't figure out how to use them very easily. After about a half hour, we finally figured it out. The WORST part is that because we have 19 windows, I purchased the box of 10. Well I had to open one to see how it worked and there's NO WAY to save the interior cellophane packaging that each alarm is wrapped in, so now I can't return them either. They're virtually uselss to me now. I wasted almost $40 on a product which I won't use. Bummed. Oh, and PS--you might notice one of the rating categories for the product is "Sheerness." What is THAT? "Sheerness" as it relates to window/door alarms? Huh? What does that mean? That alone should warn you of the trouble you'll encounter if you purchase these. Do yourself a favor--DON'T!

Pros
  • Just what I wanted for camping...early warning system. The only thing that I would change, remote off.
Cons
  • The alarms are battery-powered and may require frequent battery replacements, which can be costly and inconvenient
