I use this item regularly to chill my soda drink on my desk and next to my reading chair. I like my soda cold, and the cold temperature helps preserve the soda.(I used to use an electric "can cooler" to keep my soda cold while I was running, but soda bottles are much larger in circumference and don't fit in can coolers.) As for the complaints about chilling bottle of wine at room temperature takes too long When using this for wine I first chill the wine to temperature and then use a cooler to hold it.
