Review on Caran D'ache Neopastel - 96-Piece Set - Various Shades (7400.396) by Hannah Curi

My favorite oil pastel set is

Neopastel is pigmented and easy to apply and blend. They apply easily but aren't creamy enough so you'll have to start with lighter colors first. Don't rub the paper and don't stick it together. Layers: They aren't as soft and creamy as Sennelier pastels or Mungyo Artist Gallery Extra Soft Oil pastels, so lighter colors won't show if you layer a darker color on top. I don't consider this a negative factor as, being less creamy, Neopasteels are more saturated and when blended with my fingers they don't rub off and don't get lumpy. And I have Senneliers or Mungyo to put on top when the Neopasteels aren't visible. Cost: I bought this at a reduced price, but of course it's still expensive at a professional level of quality. I got value for the excellent lightfastness and wider color gamut, for professional and serious artists the price is not bad compared to the Sennelier 72 set. Wish: I hope they bring more color. I miss deeper/darker reds, more pinks (especially taupe-pink) and icy blues. In addition, at least 120 colors from other brands are available.
