Review on Telex Airman ANR Headset Airbus by Ray Richards

I have used the Telex 850 on various aircraft for years. I've worn it for probably over 4,000 actual flight hours. It was never the quietest or the sturdiest or the best of everything, but it was always better than the 750 that most airlines have in the cockpit, it packed neatly in my flight bag and it never ran out of batteries. When I switched to Airbus I decided to purchase a custom XLR headset and settled on Telex's latest offering. Comfort is about the same, although the small head pads are terrible. Better without her. The ear cups cannot be swivelled, so with the included case they take up a TON of space in my holdall - at least twice as much as the 850 with the case. REALLY sensitive to placement. It needs to be right in front of your mouth and properly aligned, or it won't pick up much sound. I don't hear my own voice. After a few months and hundreds of hours of flying I just can't bring myself to use this thing anymore and plan on replacing it with a David Clark Pro-X2 or a Bose A20. It's too late to return it, so I'll probably put it up for sale on the bulletin board in our mess hall.
