I used to run the CISCO ASA5505 at home, but it was limited to 100 Mbps. So I switched to an ASUS router, which of course is fast, but it was unreliable, random reboots, I didn't remember the port forwarding settings between reboots, etc. SO - I figured I need a proper firewall upfront while ASUS do it could be just a wireless router with no fanfare. Since I have SONIC Gigabit Fiber, I wanted a firewall that would really eat up my bandwidth due to cheap CPU or subpar processing power. So far I'm very happy with them. I configured all four LAN ports as different groups with different firewall rules. For example, a cable is connected to one port that runs through the entire garage and sets up a WLAN network there that is not as well protected as my head. It was so easy to set up firewall rules between LAN groups/ports and outside. The only thing that was less than obvious was port forwarding. I have a Plex server and I needed to redirect 32400 to a specific IP. I was eventually able to figure out how to do this, but it's a two-step process: 1. you need to set up SNAP on what you're forwarding, and 2) you need to add an Any-External firewall policy to your hardcode IP address. , the box is quiet, fast and I like the orange LEDs :)
