I have found masonry drill bits to be very similar to tile/stone saw blades. They just aren't meant to last forever. In the past, my tactic has been to buy the very best and try to get as much life out of them as possible. After using them, I changed tactics: I think it's better to buy bits of acceptable quality and replace them as soon as they break or become dull. I've used them on concrete that I needed to install anchor bolts in and they worked great. I've even hammered them in to drill through a metal door jamb and they...well, they did the job, but not elegantly, but I can't fault masonry for not being elegant on metal. Anyway, I used the first piece heavily a couple of times and then -- I threw it away for recycling. And now I have a fresh, clean piece for my next task. I might like it.
