After researching the cost and limitations of manual switches for portable generators I decided to install this interlock kit on my 10,000w portable generator. The switch I first considered cost over $300 and would have limited me to just using 6 circuits of my 200 amp panel. Instead I chose to fit this interlock kit into a Homeline Square D 200 amplifier panel. The generator is connected to a junction box installed outside my garage which runs to the generator circuit breaker in my junction box via a properly sized Romex cable. - Measuring metal. The drilling template allows you to precisely drill the three required holes for a perfect fit of the latch bracket and the generator circuit breaker holding bracket is perfect for the circuit breaker to latch it with the existing screw already in the panel. I recommend this product for its excellent quality, low price, ease of installation and the ability to use the circuitry you want when running a portable generator. This interlock kit provides a safe alternative to safely trip the main circuit breaker in a panel before the panel can be powered from a portable generator.
