I've read that people have questions about why they only work upside down with the answer "you have to wait until dark". Well, that's NO problem. Most of these lights ONLY work when it's dark AND you turn them upside down. I think it has to do with the weight of the fairy lights not being able to keep up. It's so frustrating. Sometimes you can shake them a little and they turn on, but this has to be repeated every night. Or when the wind moves the glass slightly, the light goes out. I am very disappointed in these lamps. I've had them on the road for a while so I don't think I'll be going back. Instead I will throw them away. :(
