Functional as

I bought these bulbs in mid-October based on product reviews. At the time, there were only Vines-approved reviews saying how great they were. I bought and installed them, but they turned out to be acceptable, not perfect and not fully functional. Pros: 1. These were probably the cheapest color changing smart bulbs from a well known brand. This is a very good deal compared to Hues.2. It was a pleasure to control every single bulb. Bad: 1. I had problems with the color change function. It didn't work properly. Whenever I tried to change the color, the lightbulb would change color but keep blinking. I'm not sure if it was a problem with the app, the firmware or my router (google mesh network).2. I had many recessed ceiling lights (about 14) on the first floor alone. Since everyone is connected to a router, I had many devices connected to my network. It was only on the first floor. I don't know if it was justified, but I was starting to worry that keeping so many devices online would end up slowing down my bandwidth and eating things up.3. Power consumption. For these things to work, they need to be powered by a light switch. That means they're on all the time, even when the light isn't on. This needs to be done in a way that your phone can access on demand to wirelessly turn on the light. I don't know how much power these things use, but the thought of those vampire devices using power when I'm not home is worrying my wallet. As mentioned, these things are powered by a light switch. It's really annoying when I go to bed and hit the switch only to find I have to turn the light back on or the smart function doesn't work. I need to disable these lights using the app. This is especially annoying when you have a guest who doesn't have access to the app. The Philips Hue system has a dedicated light switch that can be purchased to solve this problem. I'm not sure if these guys have a similar product. In any case, these are additional costs. Summary: You don't seem to be fully ready for prime time just yet. The highlight feature without color change works fine, but the color change feature doesn't work for some reason. It may be related to my Wi-Fi network, but I'm not going to change all that because of those lightbulbs. I ended up bringing everything back and getting smart light switches instead. Smart light switches don't offer the same control, but are more economical and convenient in the long run. I don't have to worry about turning off the light switch.
