To connect to this valve and adapter you will need the correct refrigerant and charging hose.

Easy to use. Because I already had refrigerant (134a) for my car and pressure gauges with filling hoses. I decided to fix my fridge which had the same refrigerant and for the last few years it didn't seem to cool like it should and now I'm at the point of either trying to fix it or getting a new one to buy. Did some research and found this when starting the amp. The compressor thrust should be one sixth of the locked rotor rated current. The label on my refrigerator compressor said 7.5 amps with the rotor locked. 7.5 divided by 6 is 1.25 amps. Installed this valve and adapter on the return line about 6-10 inches of pipe length from where it enters the compressor, a convenient spot where I wanted to connect the inlet hose to the adapter. Added refrigerant 134a slowly up to my amp. The meter read 1.3 amps. My counter only went one place to the right of the decimal point. It took over an hour but it has cooled down and has been working like new for about 2 months. We're still thinking about replacing our fridge, but now thanks to this valve and adapter we can take our time and find one that we really like.
