Review on Sangean RCR 20 Bluetooth Charging Digital by Jim Plump

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Very high quality radio alarm clock

First of all I would like to thank my 22 year old Sony dream machine which has finally breathed its last. And it could go on if my 4-year-old grandson didn't keep hitting the snooze button. On Sangean. I wanted a better radio with a digital tuner and better sound quality. Do well in both categories. It's a very well built, solid, heavy, impressive unit. And for its size, the sound quality is excellent. Looks cool too. Overall I'm very satisfied and would highly recommend this radio, however I do have a few minor complaints. it's not the easiest thing to use. You definitely need an instruction manual. And better save because in 2 years you will never remember how to do anything. I put my Sony clock forward a few minutes so I could always get to work a little earlier. Sangean has an automatic timing feature that makes this nearly impossible. I think you can set the time manually (need to read the manual).3. No complaint but with the radio next to the bed I don't use the remote control. The manual warns that AM reception will suffer if the device is too close to the power adapter's power supply, and they're not joking. AM reception is not possible unless you move the device within 6 to 10 meters of the power cord. I don't care because I only use FM but only what others want to know. Finally Bluetooth works fine but you have to turn on the BT source and turn the radio volume up MUCH to hear it in normal room volume. In the end it may seem that I'm not happy, which is not true. I LOVE this radio. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a quality clock/alarm/radio with sound quality good enough to listen to music for pleasure and not just to wake up.
