I have carefully read all comments on these items before ordering. I took the risk that, like most articles, some people just have problems and most don't. If the item is good. All details fit perfectly. The 3/4 round bottom of the pen might feel loose, but once in place it was very hard. Some people have talked about using thicker (or wider, unclear) 3M tape. I bought a wider automotive grade door molding outer tape but haven't used it. I made a note in case there were any problems. I tried removing the included 3M tape from the smaller bottom hinge piece, which turned out to be the best chance of getting loose as there was only one strip of tape on those pieces. The included tape was almost impossible to remove, so I left it alone, thinking it should provide adequate adhesion when properly applied to a clean surface and heated. So far everything has been fine. When installing the lower pivot pin guard, note that an inner end of the guard has a small protrusion around it and a larger gap between the end and the beginning of the band. Place this edge to the top of the hinge. Pressing the tread against the joint in a way that closes the gap between the upper tread and the small bottom tread eliminates the spot where small sand or grit particles can get into the joint. When properly installed, the black underside of the hinge pin protrudes from under the edge of the pin guard. A small internal tab holds the tread in place over the gap. If there is a gap, just slide the tread up to close the gap. After a short stay in the warm sun or a few uses with the hair dryer, the protection seems to stay in place even with the doors open. This is a quality item although the black finish is glossy. But it's far better to shine a little than keep chipping your hinges. Maybe over time they will offer a black version with a flat texture like all the rest of the factory black plastic. Protects and looks good on my 2019 Jeep Rubicon. If things change over time I will update this post. Thank you for what at first glance seems like a very good product.
