My first device was struck by lightning (it happens a lot here). They are not lightning proof. :) This one is used to share our internet connection with a neighbor who is 300 meters away from us across some trees. I set it up as a normal hotspot and their Mac only has an internal Wi-Fi antenna, but they can still connect. It's only 6 Mbps, but it's better than the 0 Mbps you get without that connection. This first block was used to connect our shed to the house (for IP camera traffic). That worked very well, it was 40Mbps before the flash. I've since replaced that dead device with a physical cable in the line because we have too many cameras on those devices for the 54Mbps max.
