I bought a 16 ounce hammer to have some spares around the house. I've had two other great hammers for years but wanted an extra one to keep in another part of the house so I bought this one. The day it arrived I hammered 2 nails into a 2x4 board to test it and the steel on the head is badly dented like it's a lot softer steel than the nails. They were plain nails with large heads 1 5/8 inches long. There are two other hammers that I have owned for at least 15 years and neither of them have dented that badly after many years of use. This hammer is not made of forged steel but is cast and very soft. If you only need a hammer in a rental space where you don't hammer a lot then it's probably fine, but never good for something that needs to be clean and tidy (finishing). I'll keep a hammer for pounding steaks into the ground and whatnot, but no more. Only my .02.
