Until now relied only on WD, it's time to change the manufacturer. The "engineers" have implemented an energy "saving" mechanism that stops the disk from spinning if it has not been accessed within 8 seconds. Together with the behavior of modern software, this leads to constant starts / stops of the spindle, accompanied by a characteristic sound and access delays. I opened a page on the Internet - while you are reading, the disk is turned off. I clicked the following link - wait until the disk spins up - it's about 3 seconds. The saving function is not disabled. To solve the problem, technical support recommended, under my responsibility, to try using the firmware, twice drawing attention to the fact that it was not intended for this model. A shame!
