I bought my first one in 2015. It survived four winters outdoors, often covered in snow. I change the membranes about once a year. Eventually moisture got into the motor, and because it was disassembled to work with the diaphragm, the bolts started coming loose, so I'm buying a replacement. This is a powerful pump. There's nothing that can really compete with it, which pumps that much air without shelling out another $80 or so. Our carp pond is 600 gallons in volume and 4 feet deep at one end. Before purchasing this pump we had issues with aquarium pumps which can create bubbles but they tend to be fragile and I don't think they can provide my fish with enough oxygen in the winter. In the summer, my water filter pump with a two foot drop from the outlet provides enough oxygen to keep my fish happy, but I don't want to risk freezing them in the winter. I will build the best hull to protect it from the snow and only use it in winter.
