We started off with solar units from the big hardware store, but found we were replacing them every other year and they didn't give great light anyways. Looking for a better solution, we found these.The good: The price. You really can't beat this price for compact LED low voltage landscape lights. If you absolutely must stick to a budget, these are the lights for you. They are all aluminum, including the stake, and we liked that there were no plastic parts. Overall, they seem very well made, again, especially for the price.The bad: Consider a few things before purchasing these. Are you buying low voltage lights because you want a solution you can install and never worry about again? Are you willing to spend a little more on something better quality? Consider that brass fixtures outlast aluminum, especially in coastal areas, but brass will be more expensive. What happens if a bulb goes out? With integrated LED fixtures, if a bulb goes out the whole fixture goes bad, and you'll have to dig it up and replace it. Consider buying a fixture that's designed for incandescent/LED so you can choose your own bulbs, and replace them if necessary.I really wanted this to be the last time I ever had to deal with outdoor fixtures, so we returned this item and got brass fixtures instead. Yes, it was more expensive (about 4-5x more) but we had a small number of fixtures and thought it was worth it. If we had 20+ fixtures, and a limited budget, we would have kept these and bought a few extras just in case of failure, expecting to replace one or two down the line.
