I used a medium sized laundry basket to hold non-paper junk. Moving the trash can to the trash cans in the garage worked. Things in the basket didn't look tidy unless they were emptied several times a day. It was good practice. I've seen this with two separate bins, one for paper and one for plastic and glass. It was planned to be placed between the washing machine and the sink in the laundry room. We needed a vertical rather than horizontal, thinner bin with a pedal in front. I immediately noticed that the paper bag doesn't fit in the blue trash can. The basket is deep but narrow. When used for paper, the contents are emptied into the paper bag on the day of garbage collection or more frequently. I stack catalogs and magazines and bind them together. The black basket holds a large detergent container and several canisters. The ugly unopenable plastic containers used in the grocery department will work, too. I unpacked the box, removed the wrapping, set the case upright, and stepped on the pedal. It worked. If you want the lid to stay up, allow it to close a little, then gently push in until it's fully open. The blue basket is easy to remove. Black bean not. I called the phone number on the card that was in the box. I found out that this phone number is for customer service to replace parts. The young woman knew nothing about the products! We all have bad days. I caught her on mine. An unpleasant and useless person. I called Raven! Good service! Did I want to replace it, return it for a full refund? Do you want to try it for a few days and then decide? I saw the black container taped under the rubber that runs all the way across the top of the container to hold the plastic bag in place. The black tank is stuck! No tools must be used to avoid the risk of damaging the container, cutting the rubber or scratching the metal. You'll need to work around the perimeter of the black basket to fit it over the elastic. A few sore, pinched fingers plus patience solved the problem. I put the large plastic bag the container was wrapped in during transit into a black trash can to keep it clean. If necessary, the bins can be easily washed with a hose. If you don't have a hose, place each container in the shower. If you have long arms, you can wipe them with a disinfectant wipe and reach to the floor. Is the container expensive? Yes. Can I find something better online or in a store? no If you have a big family, this may be too small. Entering the laundry room from the garage greatly improves the visuals. Also better functionality.
