Review on πŸ”Œ 110 to 220 Voltage Converter Step UP - Efficient 800W Solution for Euro and Asia Appliances with 220-240V Rating, Perfect for Use in the US by Eric Nallamothu

Required for US Euro or Chinese units. Good design. A small problem with the design.

We have a coffee maker in Europe that we really like and they don't make a US compatible version. The only way to use it in the US is with a step-up transformer; i.e. convert 120V to 240V, with sufficient power of at least 1000W. It looks gorgeous on your kitchen counter, unlike many industrial looking ones. It is silent no matter running under heavy load or no load. The display shows the input voltage and output power of the load in watts. It's a bit pricey, but at least in my case, it was worth it. The toroidal transformer is inherently quieter and more efficient than the old flat-plate square-wave transformers and also allows for thinner transformers. it should be so. For this type of application you need an AC transformer, not a high frequency electronic power supply. 60Hz transformers that can handle 1200W are inherently heavy. There's a silly design problem, but it's easy to work around. The device has two copies of the Chinese standard socket. The problem is that many or most European plugs will not fit, especially the type with the large round plug and two round pins because the pins are too big for the socket holes. You must use an adapter plug designed to adapt European sockets with smaller prongs to other plugs. They are cheap and easy to find. That works great.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
