boy does it work.

First time renting in many years and there is a place. Draft to say the least. There are gaps in the windows between them and their sash and I debated this versus the ugly plastic panels to keep my heating bills as good as they would be in New England winters already. Not being able to fix the actual problem and expecting this from my landlord would be unreasonable, I found this and the plastic wrap and decided to test it first. Basically, it's dry putty. Easy to put on, supposedly easy to take off (I'll update it in spring if needed). It's like a dry version of silly putty squeezed into connected ropes. At first I thought "why?" but it actually makes sense; Most of my gaps only need one strand, but the sizable gap between the window and the windowsill below (I don't remember the actual name of that part) required three to fill to my satisfaction in a sort of triangular configuration that is surprising was easy to get to. Yes, it hurts to tear them apart; Be patient and go slow and it works well. Mine didn't melt or dry out - and the box says it WILL NOT dry out - so I was able to patch up any cracks in the window next to my small kitchen table. I sit here to work and eat and believe me it was a lot colder before. I'll have to move all the plants out the other window next time, but it's worth it. Then up; There's plastic in the living room from previous occupants (a big sign there's a problem) but I hate both that and the fact that I can't use the blinds so I'm considering replacing them with these instead. Might do both if it's really bad but my heater doesn't run all the time anymore in between and some seals on the drafty doors so I'll wait and see for now. I now feel fine sitting by the window even though it's quite cold outside, so I suppose that will be enough. The mixed reviews made me wonder if it's worth trying or not; I say if you get a good batch, like mine, a good regular roll, it's worth it. With this roll I think I can do all eight double windows. and if not, it's pretty cheap to backorder. I was afraid to play around with plastic and now it seems I don't have to!
