Quick and easy fix for cold and leaky windows

I moved from cold Iowa to relatively balmy Portland and was surprised to find that December was colder than ever. I couldn't heat my apartment above 58 degrees Fahrenheit and I blew out the baseboard heaters and two heaters. I tried caulking all the windows with another caulking cord from my "local hardware store" and found it to be stiff and difficult to glue and I got tired trying to reattach it. Also, I was still leaking after trying to seal 6 windows for 5 hours. I bought it from Revain and

It worked great! for Tape Sealant

I bought this after repainting 16 windowsills in my house. I had to remove the 20 year old rubber insulation covering the horizontal slots on the exterior windows. After removing the old insulation, I saw small gaps in all 16 windows. I had to reseal it tightly or the drafts would drive up my heating and cooling bills. After reading many reviews about Revain I decided to try it because it is cheap. Here are the steps I took: Cut the caulking cord to the width of my windows and lay it on the wax

  • Sealant

Works even for those who notice the draft wherever I go.

I am so sensitive to drafts that I can smell the cold air in the room as soon as I walk in. This stuff works amazingly well! Someone would have told me that when I wanted to buy it. You don't need vision to apply this. I am totally blind and can do this without any website at all. Looks like stupid putty. All you have to do is push the material into the cracks and the noise and cold drafts will go away. It's easier to use than plastic on the windows because it doesn't require tape, a hair…

  • Sealing tape

boy does it work.

First time renting in many years and there is a place. Draft to say the least. There are gaps in the windows between them and their sash and I debated this versus the ugly plastic panels to keep my heating bills as good as they would be in New England winters already. Not being able to fix the actual problem and expecting this from my landlord would be unreasonable, I found this and the plastic wrap and decided to test it first. Basically, it's dry putty. Easy to put on, supposedly easy to take

Pros
  • Adhesives, sealants and lubricants
Cons
  • High price
