Review on COODIA Electric Aquarium Automatic Extractor by Paul Curington

Poor design not suitable for small aquarium

Obviously it was designed for at least 20 gallon aquariums so trying to use it in my small 6Ga is a mess but worse, it is not even suitable for the intended use! Problems: The vacuum cleaner is almost a meter long, but the hose that comes with it is literally shorter than the vacuum cleaner itself. Forget the bucket on the floor, better place it DIRECTLY next to the aquarium or the hose won't reach. Speaking of the hose, it's made of low-quality plastic and bent. So if you don't hold the hose, the first spurt of water will make me squirm like a snake and splash water everywhere. So when you buy this vacuum, be prepared to vacuum with one hand while holding the hose with the other hand. Just providing a longer, better quality hose would solve so many problems with this thing. Oh, and while you're holding both the vacuum and hose with both hands, good luck turning it on. It's not just because both hands are already holding something, but also because the switch is too far on the cable. So if you don't call for help by then, you'll have a hard time finding and flipping the switch while holding the vacuum and hose. What about suction? Not impressive. I use it on the bottom of my small tank and when I'm done half the dirt will still be there even if I pump out half the water. It looks like the vacuum won't even reach the bottom if you have less than 10-12 inches of gravel in your tank. Overall a waste of money.
