I liked the fact you could store items in different areas, so keep them organized. I'm using this for portable art supplies, painting outdoors. Pretty good, but a couple of things keep it from being great. A 7x10 pad should fit in the main compartment, but you have to leave it partially unzipped to fit this size pad. The zipped compartment beneath a flap (the flap also has a zipped pocket) has slots for pens, a pocket for other items--that's good--but it closes by a zipper that runs almost completely up one side across the top and down the other side. If not completely zipped, items easily fall out. The flap attaches to the body of the bag with velcro--really strong velcro that makes a heckuva noise. For observing/painting wildlife that noise is a problem. The brown version is lovely and sturdy, but set it down on autumn leaves and it is camouflaged so well it's hard to see. A couple of bright luggage tag holders solved that problem. This is really a great little bag, with a shoulder strap that is easy to adjust, and comfortable.
