I gave it four stars because for the price it does the job. The plastic template is very light but saves time when measuring. Once you've made the pilot holes you can remove the template to avoid damaging it. I left it on and it kept switching to a different bolt length when the hole saw recognized a change in door material and bounced around a bit. It's not really a problem because the center hole keeps it in the way. As other reviews have said, the hole saw you use is almost welded to the shaft. I decided to put a 2 1/8" hole saw on the shaft because they include a 1" spade that drilled the bolt hole perfectly. However, the template assumes a 1" hole saw, so you can hold a 1" hole saw in the template, hit it with a hammer to mark, and then use the included 1" putty knife. If you're looking for a good, fun, fine-tuned instrument, look elsewhere. If you want a template that works great and saves time when measuring, this is your blueberry.
