I don't have a DVR or TIVO so I still use a VCR to record shows on VHS tapes. I used to have a lot of videocassettes, but some of them were so old that they were starting to wear out. That was my reason to buy this product. I find the Sony T 120VR Premium Grade (120 min) videocassettes to be of very good quality. I use them over and over again and they last quite a while. The trick to keeping your VCR in good condition if you use it frequently is to clean the heads with a good quality head cleaning tape often enough that they don't "eat" the tapes. Turning VHS tapes over during recording also helps extend their life.
