I had the same problem as many here: The handle doesn't fit snugly on the tailgate. However, if you use a long screwdriver or pry bar and gently pull or tug on the area around the gate opening where the latch is installed. You haven't dented the metal that badly or bent it in any way, just a few gentle pulls and once the lock is in place the metal is pushed down enough that a handle is needed to pull it against the gate where it will be flush. actually pretty easy. I'll take it off and take a picture of myself so you can see what I'm talking about. I know it shouldn't require it, but that's as much a Dodge issue as anything else. at least it's easy to fix.
