I bought this Cudy AX1800 X6 router to create a MESH network with the new Cudy AC2100. Installation has certainly been simplified, although setting up MESH was a bit confusing at first. I mean it's straightforward and simple, but it wasn't clear that one of them MUST be a router. Initially I set up the AC2100 as an access point and when I tried to set up MESH they couldn't talk to each other. Then it dawned on me that one of them MUST be a router. I just used my modem/router as a router and it was fine... before setting up MESH. I want to have two separate networks... one for streaming, gaming, and heavy stuff, and a second Wi-Fi network to serve all smart home devices. I did this and as an access point I didn't have to change network IPs or anything since the modem/router was handling all the DHCP assignments. I could add the AX1800 as a third network, but I don't want to. Too confusing. So I had to rebuild the AC2100 as a router and add the AX1800 to the MESH. This part went great. However, the signal range does not seem to be that great. Maybe I set it up like this, which is the default. The modem/router seems to have a much better range, although it sucks in terms of the number of devices it can handle. I have 50+ smart WiFi lightbulbs as well as smart vacuums, thermostats, plugs etc. I'm going through and resetting everything to a new secondary WiFi network. Quite happy now.
