I've been wearing Teva sandals for about a decade but lately I've been doing more things in and around the water than I used to. This brought out the real weakness of the Tevas (which really wasn't there with the first pair I owned). They are dangerous when wet. I feel like I'm on skates and that's why I switched to Chacos. I find them much better than Teva when wet. It turns out the Chacos have a much more durable outsole which I (personally) find more comfortable for hiking rough trails. With Chacos, there are rewards up for grabs once you get used to how you tighten the straps for a custom fit. not intuitive and I almost gave up at first but you can figure it out. Another problem is the strap, which hangs and drags on the floor. You can't cut the strap (guaranteed), and if you tie a knot like some YouTubers recommend, you won't loosen the strap enough to make it easier to put on and take off. I cut the label off the strap, fold it in half at the end and attach with hot glue. I just shortened the strap enough that it no longer bothers me and all other functions remain.
