I bought two of these cases in January of this year (2014). We store our bikes on the side of the house where they only get direct sunlight from 9am to 12pm so UV exposure is limited. We also live just a few miles south of San Francisco where temperatures rarely reach the 90's. The outdoor environment is bland, to say the least. In just 8 months, including 3 or 4 winter months which were cool and cloudy, the surface of both lids deteriorated and became so brittle that they broke when the lids were removed. of bicycles. I threw both suitcases in the trash and took our bikes inside. Given our soft environment, a decent case can't fall apart that easily. I'm very disappointed in the lack of quality and would have bought a more expensive case if I knew it wouldn't last. Due to the short lifespan of these cases, I downgraded my rating to just one star. Bottom Line: The price is cheap, as are the cases themselves. UPDATE November 20, 2014: After sending the above review to APC, Ian, the co-founder, sent me two brand new cases for free including expedited shipping! I didn't even ask her, he just wanted to endorse his product and that's saying a lot. Featuring new designs and materials, these replacement cases were released in April 2014, four months after my original purchase. These new cases look better than the first: better material, better sealing and more features like elastic hems and even eyelets for attachment. I have a feeling these new cases will hold up well, reflecting the fact that the company has extended their warranty to 24 months. I will be returning and doing a long term review in late 2015. In the meantime, rest assured that APC has excellent customer service!
