I installed these lights outdoors to light up my backyard patio. So far I like them very much. They're inexpensive, which is definitely a plus. They look like giant Christmas tree garlands with little grooves on the back to attach them to the tree. You are not grounded. The plug has only 2 pins; no grounding. Ironically, the written instructions on the box say to connect them to the GFI circuit when used outdoors. Without a ground pin on the plug, the GFI circuit won't give you any protection, so I advise you to keep these lamps away from metal and water. Since Boise only gets 11 inches of rain a year, and almost never in the summer, I feel safe pulling them over a nylon cord attached to wooden poles. Use common sense.
