Looks good sometimes, but getting there is a problem

Hidden mounting brackets are great when you install them, but they are a hassle to install. If you look at the sellers photos you will see that the brackets have slots for fasteners. This allows you to deviate a bit and still have a little wiggle room. They are also shown in the instructions. It doesn't apply to what you get. The brackets only have a round hole that tapers for the screw head. This doesn't seem like a big problem, but it does mean that you have NO margin for error. If any screw goes over you or even finds a bad path, you're screwed. There is no room for error here. The 4 screws should be perfectly parallel and flush with each other. If they aren't there, you can't screw the rod. Hidden mounting brackets also mean you can't use a pole as a template. I ended up fastening each side with only the top screw because otherwise it would be impossible to align them. I can't stress this enough, if you deviate even 1/32 inch from a screw your rod ends will not align.

Pros
  • Absolutely awesome!
Cons
  • Vulgarity
