Bought after many battery powered devices were a thing of the past. I was tired of the hassle of opening and closing to change batteries and needing tons of batteries between two devices, I got them. Flipping to spill seemed useless and tended to be a win-win feature, but it actually solves a lot. This is a natural movement and prevents salt and pepper from building up under the units. Mine have been on their first charge for months, so they're not old enough to say they've survived the crappy predecessors, but so far so good.
