Good value for money; As others have pointed out, it's not perfect

I had a gauge set sold by NAPA that lasted about ten years; After a while the fittings wore out, the hoses snapped in places and I dropped it which bent one side of the gauge. I decided to buy this cheap set rather than repair my branded set because I seem to be pretty picky. I recently used it to vacuum and fill the system. The hoses and distributor appear to be of decent quality. The gauge bodies are plastic, but the readings are easy to read and seem more or less accurate. As others have noted, temperatures are in degrees Celsius, but I don't use them anyway. (My rule of thumb is that in a car the low side should be 30-35psi and the high side should be twice the outside temperature plus 50psi). Minor caveats: 1. The ports on the back of the manifold that should be for storing lines are not practical as these are threaded ports, not 134a ports. So you lose the real end pieces because you have to unscrew them to use the "memory ports". It's okay, I just don't use them, I wrap them up anyway and put them in the closet. 2. I found the top side port to be a little fiddly and far from the disaster described in other reviews, but I had some minor issues with it. I wear gloves when handling refrigerant as a matter of common sense, but I have experienced the effect of releasing the high side pressure from the manifold and hose after some considerable effort while disconnecting from the car. I'll keep an eye on it and update the review if necessary. For now, given the low price, I would recommend them for home use or the light user.

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • good but not great
