I had an MCP23017 chip installed on the board, the packaging indicated that MCP23S17
I returned the goods. It had an MCP23017 chip installed. The two chips do not replace each other. MCP23S17 has 10MHz SPI bus, MCP23017 has 1.7MHz I2C bus. Otherwise they are the same. ;)
