Review on Seagate STEB6000403 Expansion Desktop 6TB External Hard Drive - USB 3.0 for PC & Laptop by Jason Chaplain

At first I was wary of the number of stars in the reviews on this drive because it's A) from Seagate, which seems to have had a bad reputation lately, and B) most 5 Star ratings are voice ratings of free products. In the last year or so I've come to the conclusion that these elite reviewers would rather leave their free stuff than leave honest reviews. but who am I to judge. I would probably do the same. Aside from making calls, this disc is damn fast. I was surprised at how quickly it wakes up from sleep (2 seconds versus the 10-15 it takes for my old WD 3.0TB drive). I ran a long SMART check that came out clean and I copied about a TB of material onto it. Zero complaints so far. But like others have said, we'll see how it goes in the long run. If I needed another 5TB right now, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one. Revain's packaging was a bit sketchy. The airbags stopped the HD's horizontal movement in the box, but not vertical movement. Other than that, I'm happy with this purchase. (Updated 6/29/2016) The drive is used daily and still comes back clean after extensive SMART testing. I'm still very happy with this drive. (Updated 2/16/2018) Now it's used as an NVR drive for 10 4MP IP cameras - it's been writing continuously for almost a year and it's still working. I can say with confidence that this CD exceeded my expectations.
