High quality cast brass. Great design. My 3 star rating is due to the fact that I purchased this installation kit to replace an 18 year old (1999 vintage) original Delta Series 17 shower valve body that was so stuck I couldn't get the old valve cartridge out could it. When I received this new "Lux" valve body (with shutoff screws) I found that it was wider than the original valve body I was replacing, meaning the existing water lines were not spaced far enough to connect to will. . one. It turned out that the standard valve body (without the water supply shut-off screws) is narrower and more closely matches the dimensions of the older body. In fact, it was impossible to find out from the spec - they appear to be the same, but they aren't. Got an economy body through Prime, installed and everything is fine. FYI - when in doubt use the standard universal valve body kit (still very high quality - great guide!)!
