If you have an upgrade, do it this way. I have 76 f150 with 4.9. I am having lead time/vacuum issues at a standard Ford dealership. So I bought that. I haven't even changed the gap on my spark plugs, but it's a noticeable difference. Be sure to attach the spark plug leads and set piston 1 to top dead center, remove the old cap while it's still in place and mark the vacuum advance position on the block. Line up the new distributor just like your old one and route the wire to the starter solenoid and that's it. Update I am now having problems with the oil pump.
