Just bought this to replace a flimsy mailbox my neighbors and I had outside the front door. Thick metal is good, and a special lock/clasp is good too. There is a pad to prevent water from entering the top slot (which the postman uses) but not the bottom one. Because of this, the bottom tray leaks like a sieve, and all our mail gets very wet. Why do they have to be so cheap that they don't have a gasket at the bottom? There's also a small magnet that helps keep the top door closed, but only on one side! Again, a super cheap solution on behalf of the manufacturer is not to include two magnets (one on each side) to make it easier to stay closed. My postman is leaving it open now to let in more rain. Excellent. I'll try adding my own spacer and a second magnet, but if that doesn't work I'll be back. Please buy another mailbox - this one is not worth it if there is a chance it will get even a little wet.
