Sent *BROKEN!* in workbenches

So. Tried to go to the back yard and do some staining/painting but the people right behind us were swimming in the remodeled pool and it's taking forever (seriously, how long does it take to redo the pool?!) and every time I would get all her stuff out for work, run the table saw and send the sawdust right over the fence and onto everything in our yard. So I decided to install it in my garage and do it little by little until it's done but at least free of the wind and sawdust. I have already ordered this workbench - assuming it would be the answer to my problem. Little Dragon. This item was shipped defective! To say I'm seriously disappointed in Black&Decker is an understatement. My friend's husband had one of these (smaller version) which I really liked so I searched for 2 months before I found and bought this one. Yes, I have read the reviews. But this is a Black & Decker product, so I decided to take a chance. I wanted it for 4 reasons: 1.) I could fold it up and hang it on the garage wall so it wouldn't get in the way, 2.) It was metal and wood (although some parts of it are plastic, keep reading), 3. ) It has a step there, 4.) the bodice could be adjusted so I could make it wider or narrower. Therefore, assembly is required first. Nothing terrible, but requires assembly. Almost everything you need is included (except the hammer). Directions are just pictures, no explanation. Photos only and some of the angles of the photos were questionable as the little bells and whistles just fitted in the frame. However, I put it together and immediately knew something was wrong. The first board was uneven (not level) and the roller system that moves the boards from the top didn't move properly, so I watched a YouTube video on how to put it together. I got it right so I flipped it over and on closer inspection the plastic reel system was BROKEN and the spring COMPLETELY BROKEN and fell off as soon as I flipped it over to check. I was so angry. I mean really, really crazy. WHY WHY?!?!?! Everyone makes a pulley system out of PLASTIC?!?! and a cheap thin nib that has a very short shelf life anyway (just a matter of time!)?! WHY DOES ANYONE MAKE SOMETHING to be used as a tool/workbench NOT WITH PLASTIC? AND MOVING PLASTIC PARTS?!? Just why?!?! Who does it? Who would have thought that this would be a good idea? Who makes these decisions?! I expected more from Black & Decker. Serious. Things just aren't made the way they used to be. Black & Decker has always been my favorite brand. Never again. I am so angry that I will never buy Black & Decker again. I couldn't press the buttons on my phone fast enough to go through the return process. Since the HANDLES NEVER SEPARATED (!) (Just another joke FYI) I put it back in the box as is - took it to UPS and told them to get this piece of shit as far away from me as possible . and as soon as possible. Now for a note - NO ONE WEARS THIS TO ANY WHERE LOCAL. No one. Not Home Depot, not Lowes, not Ace Hardware, not Harbor Freight. No one. The Home Depot guys told me why - apparently Black & Decker should have a pretty strict patent on it because nobody's going to make a generic version of it. No one. That. Is. Nowhere. to be K. Found. Home Depot NO longer sells Black & Decker products. So the hunt began to find something similar that could be used for me. I have the best husband in the world. He took me straight and told me to throw money on it to get rid of the problem. I've been to Home Depot before and knew they didn't have ANYTHING around. So, not having high hopes, my husband took me to Lowes and we went with a Worx Pegasus - $20 more - yes, it's plastic, but it has bad reviews and no moving parts. So I figured if that doesn't work I can return it locally. It's worth noting that my friend's husband has had a B&D workbench for over 10 years - he's never had a problem with it. This was clearly done in those years when everything was built better. So do yourself a HUGE favor and skip it. This is a huge disappointment and an even bigger waste of time.
