Review on ASUS PCE AC56 Wireless Express Adapter by Jason Sergeantson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It took a week for the 5GHz WiFi to work.

Now that it works I have no problem but it was a tedious process. I've tried every driver I could get my hands on, but either it didn't see the 5GHz WiFi, or it saw it but couldn't connect. This device uses a regular chipset so you can go crazy looking for drivers as there are a million of them. Here's how I fixed it: 1. Uninstall the Asus driver or any other WiFi driver if you already have it installed, shut down the system and remove the card1. on Gigabyte MB go to BIOS2. Go to "More settings" 3. Change "Max. Connection Speed” from "Auto” to "Generation 3”. Note: This option may be named something like "PCI Speed" or something similar.4. Save changes, turn off the device and install the map.5. Both the default Windows 10 driver and the Asus driver should work now. Do not install the Asus Network Utility, only the driver. For me, this was really a bug and doesn't give you any additional features that would be worthwhile. Another reviewer mentioned changing the PCI BIOS setting, but they said it was because they have two graphics cards. I only have one GPU and my PCI settings were named differently so it was hard to figure out which one. I'm a little sorry to deduct 2 stars for this, but if you google "PCE-56 5Ghz" you'll see a million posts from people having this exact problem and Asus doesn't give any information on their website about how to fix this problem. . decide. This is clearly a common problem with a fairly simple fix, so not including it in the FAQ seems childish. Also, if you're looking at this card, keep in mind that it's a few years old and there are newer options for the same price. which also come with built-in Bluetooth. Looking back, I would like to know.
