Yes it floats but to be honest it's nowhere near as strong as advertised. It takes a long time to cool before opening to add water. You then have to wait for it to heat up again and after a few minutes you're wasting water from the tank to finish the job you started 45 minutes ago only to fail again. Tried cleaning my propane grill, small 2 plates, barely finished before it dried and it was a cleaner grate plate. The stiffer plate was never cleaned. Worked better around the house on railings, but never finished work on a tank. The soles of the sneakers were the biggest prize. Quick and easy and worked really well. The downside to this is that they get dirty once you wear them outside again, so it's pointless. My wife enjoyed cleaning all of our toothbrushes and used it to tackle a stain on a t-shirt. The stain won, it lives. In short, it does what it says on the tin, but the results aren't worth the time you're wasting. I wouldn't recommend this to a friend, but maybe to an annoying neighbor or 2.
