This lens is pretty funny. I pair it with my Panasonic GM5. As with any modern camera and lens, the resulting image files are of high quality. The results depend to a large extent (imo) on the person behind the camera. This lens is good for moon photography. Also great for small animals. However, for very small birds like hummingbirds, best results are seen at 10 feet or less. Otherwise, the photo will have to be overcropped in post-processing. Please note that the hummingbird video I uploaded to Revain does not show the full resolution of the original file. I uploaded it to YouTube for better viewing. The plastic body feels solid. A small drawback is the telescopic zoom. I would prefer an internal scaling mechanism. Between shots I sometimes unintentionally press the end of the lens when it's zoomed out. It squeezes the lens and messes up my focus. Oops! A constant aperture would also be great, but I understand that these features make the lens bigger, heavier and more expensive. Many thanks to Panasonic for including the lens hood! This is greatly appreciated. Do you hear this canon? Neither of these hoods are sold separately for $40.
